Role Purpose

The Manager of Operations works in partnership with the General Manager Operations to ensure the efficient functioning of the organisation’s asset management, workplace health and safety, ICT and corporate operations.

The Manager is also responsible for maintenance of records and databases containing information regarding licenses, warranties, and service agreements for the organisation’s hardware and software, as well as supporting their direct reports in day-to-day operations and performance review.

Reporting lines

The number of direct reports will be determined by the organisation’s needs and resources.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the General Manager of Operations in developing, implementing and reviewing strategies, plans, policies and procedures to ensure CQID service delivery is supported by best practice corporate operations on a day-to-day and long-term basis, and are compliant with HSQS and ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Identify and continually assess and improve the management of CQID’s tangible assets (including cars, office buildings and equipment) and intangible assets (information and communication technology systems) that support all business operations
  • Maintain excellent records related to operations portfolio and provide regular informative reports that include recommendations for continual improvement and efficiencies
  • Partner collaboratively with colleagues to ensure they are appropriately and transparently supported and compliant in terms of the assets and ICT resources and systems utilised
  • Develop and maintain budgets associated with the portfolio and implement best practice procurement policies with Indigenous business as preferred suppliers
  • Support the development and refinement of business plans, business systems, organisational policies, internal audit and integrated reporting framework relevant to operations, assets, workplace health and safety and IT;
  • Develop, review and refine risk management protocols, contract and supplier management, asset management and record keeping systems and provide oversight regarding the adherence to compliance and internal reporting;
  • Oversight of ICT needs and performance including corporate and client management systems, PC network and applications software;
  • Lead ICT strategy, plans and policy and negotiate and manage procurement, supplier contracts and performance;
  • Review and refine the organisation’s Occupational Health & Safety systems, practices and policies to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
  • At all times work within CQID’s Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures; and
  • Any other responsibilities as directed by the General Manager Operations.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Heritage and connection to community and culture (non-Indigenous candidates will be considered if there are no suitable Indigenous candidates)
  • Awareness and understanding of complex challenges and key issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant skills, knowledge and experience in a Human Services organisation;
  • Experience in managing and coordinating core functions across a business/organisation, including IT, assets and operations management. Significant experience in integrating these functions to ensure efficient and effective business operations;
  • Ability to exercise high quality professional judgement, ensuring decisions are made based on sound evidence and take personal responsibility for delivering quality outcomes while maintaining professional practice and behaviour in a challenging and complex environment;
  • Understanding the organisational goals and recognising how your role contributes to CQID’s objectives and strategic vision;
  • You can build and sustain positive relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders to support CQID to deliver integrated services for children, young people, their families and the community; and
  • Effective leadership and have a good sense of the qualities you bring to the team.
