The position

Working within Homelessness Services, Special Works Division, The Case Worker will support companions with complex, individual needs who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or who are experiencing social disadvantage in the Merimbula & surrounding region. As a Case Worker, you will work closely with local area conferences and co-ordinate all aspects of the day-to-day activities of relationships, case work, outreach and support operations of the program relating to individuals needing support beyond the capacity of conference resources. The Case Worker will deliver holistic, sustainable case plans, collaborating with people (companions) needing support and other service providers. You will assist with operational analysis and the implementation of continuous business improvement of services provided, ensuring the structure, process and services satisfy current and emerging needs. The Case Worker will provide a high level of customer service to individuals (companions) we assist, ensuring communication, assistance and support services are timely and appropriate. The Case Worker will build individual capacity, enable people to live a fulfilling life, helping them to make optimum choices, enhancing their living skills and confidence. You will ensure that cross program support is provided and utilised improving the ‘value chain’ of the Society and any new initiatives. The Case Worker will collaborate and build positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Our Offer

  • Weekdays - Monday to Friday
  • Part-Time (30.4 hours per fortnight)
  • $47.50 hourly rate + 14% Superannuation
  • Salary packaging option up to $15,900 per FBT year, with an additional Meals and Entertainment package available up to $2,650 per FBT year

About you

To be successful in this role you will see this role as ‘not just a job’. You will bring proven ability to work across a range of programs and client types, and a demonstrated ability to prioritise a complex, varied and individual cases, working with minimum supervision. The ability to understand information provided from various sources, to be informed and keep-up-to-date information on relevant matters and areas of service, ensuring the provision of appropriate information.

You will have well-developed communications skills, a proactive, collaborative mindset and demonstrated resilience and capacity to adapt to change and at times, challenging environments.

A Bachelor degree in social work or community service is essential together with proven experience in a related/similar role within a complex work environment. A proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to achieve organisational goals. High attention to detail is essential as is the ability to identify issues and propose solutions. A high level of proficiency in the use of office technology (Microsoft Office Suite) with demonstrated experience on the operational use of record keeping database packages, including efficient and accurate data entry skills is required.

A current First Aid Certificate, NSW current driver licence and access to a fully registered and insured vehicle is essential. If offered employment you will be required to undergo a National Criminal History Check and successfully obtain and hold a current NSW Working with Vulnerable People/Children Card (WWVP, WWCC).
