An exciting opportunity exists to join our team in Tumut as the Team Member - Water & Wastewater.
Primary Purpose
Contribute to the operational needs of the council through the operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities.
Key components of this position will include:
- Assist in the operation of water and wastewater facilities/plants to meet agreed service levels.
- Monitor, review and report treatment plant data to meet agreed service levels.
- Deliver construction and maintenance works on water, sewer and associated infrastructure to meet agreed service levels.
- Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.
Do you have the following skills and experience?
Essential Criteria
- Contemporary knowledge and or relevant qualifications in the application of plumbing principles and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a heavy labouring environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate minor plant and equipment correctly and safely.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Undertake or be tested for Hepatitis A & B and tetanus vaccinations
- You will be required to complete work in the plants every fourth (4th) weekend and be on call one (1) in every eight (8) weeks as required by the Team Leader Water & Wastewater, you will also be required to work some public holidays.
- Actively participate and complete weekend work in both the Water and Sewer plants as rostered.
Desirable Criteria
- Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies Operation Certificate.
- Water Operator Qualifications and/or experience operating Sewer Plants/Water Plants with a commitment and ability to obtain required qualifications.
- Liquid Trade Waste Certificate.
- Confined Space Ticket.
- Class MR drivers' licence.
- Forklift ticket.
