General Ranger / Companion Animal Shelter - 12 month contract

  • General Ranger position that will initially conduct operations of the Companion Animal Shelter
  • Plays an important role in educating and endorsing Council's compliance programs
  • Use your effective customer service, conflict resolution and problem solving skills in this challenging and varied role

Council is looking for a compliance all-rounder to join our Regulatory Services team for the next 12 months. Initially, this person will be placed at the Companion Animal Shelter and will assume responsibility for shelter operations, managing volunteers, liaising with the public etc.

More broadly and throughout the 12 month contract, this role may work closely with the Enforcement of Public Spaces (unattended Property) Act which includes control of livestock in public places, property left unattended in a public place, maintaining tidiness of public spaces and regulation of Council off-street parking areas and on-street parking areas. Council's Rangers also ensure that vegetation in private properties does not present a fire risk, become unsightly or habitat for vermin and undertake enforcement action under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Protection of the Environmental Operations Act 1997 where necessary. This position may also be responsible for the administration of the Companion Animals Act including the detention of stray animals found in public places.
