About the Role

The Government and Industry Relations Manager is a key communicator for MMAL, representing the company to government bodies, industry groups, and the media. You will be involved with the development and implementation of communication strategies that will influence policy, enhance MMAL's reputation, and manage crisis situations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategically enhance the market opportunity and reputation of MMAL, building the company's profile with government, media and other stakeholders
  • Lead the development of MMAL's government communication strategy and produce relevant communication materials
  • Attend relevant industry body meetings, lobby government and automotive organisations, and represent MMAL as a company spokesperson on relevant issues
  • Act as key contact for crisis and escalations management, including overseeing response activities, creating a management plan, and preparing regular communications to all key stakeholders
  • Prepare regular reports for MMAL executive team, in addition to speeches and other communication material as required

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in media management, corporate/brand communications, and product public relations and marketing
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of the automotive industry
  • Keen understanding of government structure, operational mechanisms, and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to build exceptional relationships and manage a diverse network of stakeholders, along with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in crisis management, along with a successful track record of project management
  • Advanced strategic management and planning abilities
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
