About us

Cruise Sydney provides a luxuriously unique way for guests to experience the beautiful Sydney Harbour. Our exclusive 78ft luxury cruiser ‘The Spirit of Migloo’ boasts uninterrupted 360-degree views while guests enjoying an amazing culinary experience including regionally sourced food and prestigious wines. Departing from Darling Harbour, Cruise Sydney provides lunch and dinner cruises as well as private charter events.

About the Role

As part of our leadership team and managing a Kitchen Hand, the Chef is responsible for end-to-end kitchen operations and directing the food preparation process to ensure the highest standard and quality of food production for our guests.

Working predominantly on The Spirit of Migloo, the Chef is hands-on in preparing and cooking all dishes for our lunch and dinner cruises, plus our private charters. The Chef is also responsible for ordering and stock control, including liaising with suppliers and vendors. The Chef must ensure that the kitchen meets all regulations, including hygiene and food safety guidelines as per the NSW Food Authority.

A standard working day may be up to 12 hours between 8:30am – 11:00pm, across any of the seven days in the calendar week, including weekends and public holidays. Shifts commence and finish at Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont.

Requirements

About You

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar in a similar Chef role

· Commercial Cookery Certificate (essential)

· Food Safety Supervisor course (essential)

· Provide First Aid (essential)

· Demonstrated experience producing high-quality food unsupervised, with knowledge of all sections

· Strong communication skills with the ability to control and direct food preparation process

· Exceptional attention to detail to ensure all dishes are up to standard

· Leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor Kitchen Hands

· Proficiency with financials to ensure stock control is within budget

· Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes

· Entitlement to work in Australia with no restrictions

· Must not be affected by sea sickness
