Your new opportunity

As the Director of our Resources and Energy Industry team, you will draw upon your leadership expertise to play a pivotal role in leading our efforts to support Government in delivering on major initiatives that shape the future of the sector. Key State Government projects include the Queensland Resources Industry Development Plan, Queensland Critical Minerals Strategy, Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, and the Queensland Hydrogen Industry Strategy.

In this role, you will:

Lead the establishment and growth of a team within Commercial Projects Advisory focused on major Queensland resource and energy projects. Specific responsibilities to include:

  • Providing high level, strategic and influential commercial advice and analysis to Government agencies and other areas of Queensland Treasury involved in the resource sector and energy transition, including through the elevation of potential projects, commercial analysis of drivers/risks and negotiations with private sector participants
  • Coordinating Queensland Treasury's involvement in whole of government activities and responses relating to hydrogen policy and hydrogen projects
  • Assisting other agencies, or leading a response, when issues arise within sectors or its participants
  • Developing and/or harnessing a network within these sectors
  • Representing Queensland Treasury on Interdepartmental Committees and coordination with federal initiatives
  • Providing input on strategy and policy implementation/delivery

What experience you will bring:

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with specific experience in the resources and energy sectors an advantage
  • Extensive leadership and project management experience in complex, multistakeholder environments.
  • Ability to positively influence the development and implementation of complex public policy and change management
  • Strong understanding of resources and energy policy frameworks within Queensland and nationally
  • Established network of contacts within the resources and/or energy industry desirable but not essential

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
