The RoleOutback Spirit is currently seeking an experienced, highly skilled and passionate Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitter located in Darwin. This position is central to ensuring the highest safety and service standards to deliver servicing and maintenance for our premium Outback Spirit touring and fleet vehicles. The role will report directly to the Fleet & Service Manager.
The successful candidate will pride themselves in safety and service standards. You will also have extensive knowledge and experience of service and maintenance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Regular fleet servicing
- Fleet maintenance of heavy and lighter vehicles
- Performing mechanical diagnosis
- Field service, communicating with Tour Drivers in breakdown situations via phone support and on-road call outs as required
- Stock take and ordering of parts
- Ensure safe and efficient workshop operations
Requirements
To be successful in this position you must have proven experience as a mechanic, with a strong attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise, and have exceptional communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Mechanical Trade Qualification
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic
- A Heavy Vehicle Road Transport Repairer's trade qualification is advantageous
- An Air Conditioning Repair license and knowledge of electronics is advantageous
- Current Medium Rigid (MR) drivers’ licence as a minimum
- Exceptional safety focus and understanding
- Excellent mechanical knowledge
- High level of integrity and ability to work unsupervised
- Experience with Mercedes Benz heavy vehicles is advantageous
- The flexibility to work some weekends and public holidays during the tour season (April to November). The need to work these days will be kept to a minimum where possible
