THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting time to join Dematic in Melbourne as a Procurement professional. We are seeking a dynamic Procurement Project Lead to join our team, playing a pivotal role in orchestrating seamless collaboration between internal departments and external suppliers to ensure timely project deliverables in purchasing materials, equipment, and services for a significant Dematic project. Â

Work with amazing procurement, engineering and project management teams as the dedicated Procurement Project Lead for a state of the art warehouse and distribution centre project.Â

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute towards Engineering and PM teams by providing Project Managers with a dedicated and complete procurement service.

  • Ensure goods, equipment, material and services are procured in accordance with specified project requirements for quantity, quality and OH&S compliance standards, by the specified date and at best price.

  • Ensures that goods, materials or services purchased meet customer quality expectations and economies whilst achieving project requirement schedules.

  • Review project requirements and investigate sources of supply from both local and overseas markets, develop alternate sources and report on new materials and equipment.

  • Drafting of Tender documentation.

  • Draft and negotiate major contracts on behalf of the company, including terms and conditions with assistance of Legal Counsel.

  • Analyse quotations received and recommend suppliers from whom goods, materials or services are to be purchased.

  • Monitor and control vendor performance to meet project schedule requirements.

  • Prepare and approve orders and contracts in conjunction with Project Managers.

  • Oversee the processing of purchase orders for materials and services for ongoing effective operation, including imported and long lead items.

  • Prepare financial data relating to the purchasing function, reporting trends and availability of goods and materials.

  • Ensure efficient and timely administration of records and files related to the function.

  • Coordinate and contribute to cost reduction programs.

  • Coordinate and administer make versus buy or change vendor analysis request and register.

  • Work with the Finance team to identify, manage and measure savings to meet Company targets.

Tasks and Qualifications:

ABOUT YOU

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • 5 years practical purchasing experience, preferably in a technical project environment

  • Experience in CAPEX and Subcontracted work.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related discipline

  • Strong track record in negotiating (achieving a win-win)

  • Strong customer focus (both internal and external)

  • Strong Team Player (at all levels)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong planning and organising skills whilst being "hands on"

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

  • Honest and trustworthy

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Able to work under pressure
