About the role

We are looking for a talented and experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to join and lead our design team. The Lead UX/UI Designer will be responsible for designing and owning the look and feel of our website, ensuring it aligns with our brand while also being an exceptional user experience that follows the latest CRO principles.

As the design lead, you will bring a diverse toolset to upskill and elevate the design team, while also setting new standards and owning the entire design process. We are looking for someone with experience building large-scale UI projects and who can give visual clarity to large e-commerce sites with UX complexities.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own all UX/UI design work streams focusing on producing high-converting mobile and web experiences for customers.
  • Hire and lead a world-class team of designers who are always pushing the boundaries of the latest design trends while also continuously testing and validating existing experiences.
  • Drive the development of Koala’s design language and UI design process, ensuring there is consistency across international markets.
  • Plan, prioritise and iterate on the design for new and existing web experiences in collaboration with Marketing, Product, E-commerce, and other key stakeholders.
  • Be hands on to translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive web and mobile experiences.
  • Be the thought leader on design by constantly exploring new design trends, themes, best practices, CRO techniques, and patterns across all platforms.
  • Develop and communicate clear and understandable user journey maps and other artefacts of experiences for the team and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and a wide breadth of experience with UX principles, user-centred product development methodologies, design thinking and tech-forward approaches to design.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and achievements.
  • Solid understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies, with a focus on usability and accessibility.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision, Photoshop
  • Ability to conduct user requirements analysis including gathering insights, creating user scenarios and task analysis.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment, where priorities may shift rapidly, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in rapid digital prototyping, showcasing a deep understanding of design thinking principles.
  • A proven track record of collaborating across disciplines and driving projects to successful completion.
