The City of Salisbury is a local government entity and encompasses an area of 158km2. We are a customer focused organisation, providing essential services to residents and visitors, in a dynamic and flexible working environment.

The Asset Systems and Support Team within the Engineering and Assets Division, of the City Infrastructure Department, is responsible for the management of asset data management and reporting, data analysis and support, asset system support, GIS systems and support, and strategic asset management.

The role:

As the Asset Systems Officer you will partner with key staff to provide expert specialised advice to Asset Managers and Maintenance Managers and ensure the development of the corporate Asset Management Information System (AMIS), Confirm and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), ESRI to deliver improvements and ensure efficient and effective Asset Management.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate high levels of motivation and enthusiasm, a commitment to continuous improvement, be a team player and have good problem-solving abilities.

Duties:

  • Undertake asset creation, capitalisation and disposal of new assets to ensure asset data accuracy and currency of asset data and to enable effective asset management and long term financial planning.
  • Administer, configure and maintain asset information in Council's corporate Asset Management Information System (AMIS) and Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Contribute to improving linkages between the AMIS and GIS.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement improvements to asset data reporting and mapping and assist asset/maintenance managers to develop asset management plans, improve decision making and enable effective management of assets.

Specialist Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in spatial sciences/geographic information systems, civil engineering, accounting or a related discipline
  • Highly developed self-management skills including time management and problems solving skills, so as to enable the management of multiple tasks within reasonable time frames within an agreed level of accuracy.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills in dealing with internal customers/stakeholders and to work collaboratively as a member of the Strategic Assets team.
  • Analytical and conceptual skills with an ability to identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with geographical information systems and in particular ESRI desktop and web/mobile solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build collaborative relationships.
  • A current drivers' licence.

Desirable experience:

  • Specialist experience and the ability to work autonomously in:
    • undertaking asset capitalisation and disposal of capital works.
    • with SQL reporting.
    • in undertaking asset capitalisation and disposal of capital works.
    • with administering an asset management Information System.
  • Detailed knowledge of depreciation methodologies relevant to infrastructure and financial reporting.
  • Significant asset management experience across a diverse range of infrastructure.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the process of capturing operating and maintenance costs for reporting of asset lifecycle costs.
