This is a Pool process with permanent full-time opportunities.

Currently, there are three (3) permanent positions available for immediate filling.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Senior Officers work with complex young people, where neurodevelopmental deficits, mental health issues, and complex trauma are prevalent. In order to effectively support the needs of these young people and achieve positive outcomes, Senior Officers require specialist skills and training. The Department will provide a diverse range of training to ensure that the Senior Officers have the required skill and knowledge, including working with young people with disabilities, behaviour modification principals, positive behaviour support, basic counselling skills and modalities, restorative justice practices, cultural competency training, trauma informed practice, suicide prevention and intervention, and understanding rehabilitation and how this can be supported in a custodial environment.

The desire to positively work with young people in challenging situations is critical.

We require you to submit:

  2. A statement no more than two (2) pages addressing the two (2) following Job-Related Requirements.
    Please provide examples to support your claims .
  • An ability to contribute to the development and implementation of operational service models that promote the wellbeing of young people in custody.
  • An ability to build and sustain positive relationships with young people (particularly from an Aboriginal background), their families, your colleagues and service providers to achieve better outcomes for young people.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of twelve (12) months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, full-time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.
