Appointment Pool

North Perth Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of experienced, enthusiastic K-6 Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2025

We are seeking accomplished teachers ideally with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills which underpin professional and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community. Suitable applicants will become an integral part of this community partnership to support each child to reach their potential.

As a teacher at North Perth PS, you should work in a collaborative environment to improve student outcomes, reflect on your own performance, contribute to staff development, and support our distributed leadership structure. You should be committed to continuous improvement, ideally displayed by your willingness to accept, and implement change, and in your ability to lead initiatives at a phase of learning and/or school-wide level.

Suitable applicants should be highly skilled and motivated educators who are passionate about teaching, with an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, especially in Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT. The school is focused on embedding evidence-based practices for teaching and learning and suitable applicants should be able to display their how their instructional strategies align with the Department of Education’s Teaching for Impact, and it links to student achievement. It is desirable for applicants to possess sound knowledge of our whole-school approaches, including data analysis, daily reviews, Promoting Literacy Development, Talk4Writing, and Positive Behaviour Support.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to :

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
