The Role
The Senior Labour Market Analyst provides high level data analysis and interpretation on labour market and economic information for and on behalf of the Branch. This includes the sourcing and manipulation of data from a range of sources including Departmental data sets and external data sets such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Labour Force Survey, Census data, Commonwealth migration and higher education data amongst others.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have experience in data visualisation, analysis and modelling, preferably in a labour market planning or vocational education and training context. You will require a high level of conceptual ability, and the ability to think critically to solve problems in a data analysis and policy context. You will also require well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex statistical information in concise ways for a wide variety of audiences.

Experience with data manipulation and analytical applications, such as R, Stata, Python and the like, as well as data modelling /visualisation applications such as Power BI, and/or experience in data storage / engineering and systems design, would be highly valuable in this role.
