ABOUT THE ROLE
The Aboriginal Support Officer is responsible for assisting the Juvenile Justice Team and providing support to young people and their family to achieve desired outcomes identified in the action plan as directed.
Some of the duties of the Aboriginal Support Officer are to :
- Assist the Juvenile Justice Team with intake and assessment of referrals.
- Advise Aboriginal youth and their families regarding the Juvenile Justice Team processes and schedules.
- Attend Juvenile Justice Team meetings to ensure Action Plans and meetings are appropriate for Aboriginal youth and their families.
- Inform and liaise with community members about Juvenile Justice Team functions.
- Support the young person and family to achieve desired outcomes identified in the Action Plan as directed by the Juvenile Justice Team.
- In conjunction with the Juvenile Justice Team, promote effective parenting and assist parents in fulfilling their parental responsibilities.
