ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Legal Practitioner of not less than five years post admission experience. Extensive knowledge of the Rules of the Supreme Court 1971, Criminal Procedure Rules 2005 and Supreme Court (Court of Appeal) Rules 2005 together with a comprehensive knowledge of the general law.

This position performs and discharges the judicial and quasi-judicial and other legal functions of a Registrar of the Supreme Court. This includes :

  • Undertaking the case management of civil, criminal and appeal matters in accord with the Court’s case management procedures;
  • Mediating civil and criminal cases with a view to achieving settlement of the case or issues in dispute;
  • Taxing bills of costs;
  • Passing accounts and conducting examinations and enquiries;
  • Settling judgments and orders; and,
  • Undertaking research and analysis of legal and operational issues.

This role provides an opportunity to use your extensive knowledge of civil and criminal procedures and practices including case management and alternative dispute resolution.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant must be Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia or qualified so as to be eligible for admission in Western Australia and must have a minimum 5 years post admission experience.
