Role Overview
As the Head of Operations and Logistics, you will report into the CEO. You will be responsible for ensuring the Warehouse and Logistic teams are engaged and work efficiently and that the store network receive accurate and timely stock.
This role will see you drive the Warehouse and Logistics teams forward through effective and productive supervision, coaching and leadership of the teams in line with the organisation's values. You will be responsible for all warehouse operations including but not limited to managing cost efficiencies, liaising with key internal and external stakeholders, KPI reporting and monitoring rosters and remuneration budgets.
Your role will be highly visible and will require you to be hands on as this is the way you will gain the respect and build relationships with your team. You have a reputation for leading highly effective teams and a passion for driving key business decisions. The key success factor will be your ability to maintain and develop a cohesive, connected, and a high-performing team.
This client has recently invested in a new state-of-the-art facility which is forecasted to be fully functioning by the end of the year. Your first 6 months will be heavily invested in getting this facility ready for optimal operation and continuing to drive improvements. The facility has huge automation potential which you will lead. Once this facility is running smoothly you will turn your attention to existing warehouses to drive efficiencies there.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
- Implement best practices for inventory control, including accurate tracking, cycle counting, and timely replenishment of stock.
- Ensure buying splits are picked 100% accurately and dispatched to agreed timeframes.
- Collaborate with Buyers and other key stakeholders to optimise stock levels and minimise shortages.
- Accurate and timely receipt and dispatch of goods from the warehouses, meeting quality standards.
- All products are received and stored in line with food hygiene and regulatory requirements.
Logistics Coordination
- DIFOT KPI's are met from both suppliers and to stores.
- Oversee the coordination of inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of goods.
- Work closely with transportation partners to optimise routes and minimise delivery lead times.
- Ensure achievement of logistics deadlines and required timeframes for pick-up and delivery.
People Leadership/Team Building
- Effective and productive supervision, coaching and leadership of the warehouse team in line with the company values.
- Succession planning in place for all key positions in department.
- Building self-reliant teams to be able to problem solve effectively
- Build teams that are high performing against KPIs
Safety and Compliance
- Responsible for building and maintaining a safety culture throughout all warehouses.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including WHS standards and food safety regulations.
- Ensure all warehouse staff operate forklifts and other machinery in line with SafeWork requirements.
- Continual focus towards safety improvement and a zero tolerance towards safety incidents
- Ensure safety training for staff is a priority
Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess warehouse processes and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Drive automation capability throughout the warehouse to realise the ROI from the new facility
Candidate Profile
You bring with you deep experience in operations leading large warehouse and logistics teams. You are not afraid to spend the majority of your time on the operations floor working closely with your team and identifying risks and opportunities. As the Head of Operations and Logistics you are passionate about people, quality, and the customer. Ideally from an FMCG business, you enjoy working in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You are a forward-thinking leader who drives an engaging high-performance culture. You have strong commercial acumen and have experience managing a multi-layered P&L. You have exposure to automation and implementing best practices to warehouse and logistics processes
