In the role of Principal Surveyor, you will manage survey projects to ensure services meet all objectives through the phases of engineering project cycles of planning, designing, constructing and managing the road network.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
* Develop and manage the delivery the district's survey program, ensure maintenance of the spatial information memory and provide expert professional, technical and administrative advice
* Lead and manage the delivery of the district's survey program and resources.
* Source and maintain an adequate program of works to ensure business sustainability and continuity.
* Prepare and manage briefs and specifications, call tenders, evaluate offers and award contracts, and contract manage contestable spatial projects.
* Review and report on the appropriateness of survey information given on plans for the setting out of works and land acquisitions.
* As a member of the Spatial Sciences Occupation Group, provide leadership, co-ordination of business activities and direction to develop the Spatial Sciences discipline of Transport and Main Roads.
* Work in collaboration with other Technical Services disciplines and members of the PDO team.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
* A minimum a 3-year degree in Surveying from a recognised tertiary institution, or a qualification that is acceptable for registration as a surveyor/surveying graduate with the Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ)
* Registration as a Surveyor with the Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ) is mandatory for permanent appointments.
* Engineering or Cadastral Endorsement by Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ).
* Current holder of a 'C' class driver's licence.
* Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.

* Acts as a role model for the team by actively seeking feedback and communicating openly about learnings
* Promotes integrity in the management and use of processes and resources, ensuring others have the information and training they need for successful implementation
* Applies a high and complex understanding of surveying practice and contributes to the development of surveying education in the application of engineering surveying principals that acquire and validate geospatial data and information as it relates to road transport infrastructure.
* Assembles data into specific information sets. Analyses, interprets and transforms that information and converts it into formats specific to client needs.
Applies a high and complex understanding of information management and presentations and contributes to the discipline.
