We have an exciting opportunity at our Taren Point office for a motivated and driven Full Time Residential Solar Design Engineer.
The Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and documentation of residential solar systems, providing crucial support to our installation team. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between sales, installers, and operations, setting a high standard for our delivery team.
Your duties include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the sales team to generate Panel Layouts, Potential System Performances, ROI calculations, and Shading Analysis.
- Provide technical advice to our representatives, coordinators, installers, and customer service team.
- Ensure accurate and complete supporting documentation for order processing.
- Thoroughly prepare project documentation in coordination with all stakeholders.
- Demonstrate independent problem-solving skills in client interactions.
- Analyse energy consumption data for existing buildings and design tailored systems to meet client requirements.
- Generate comprehensive Work Orders for installers, including Voltage Rise calculations and Single Line Diagrams.
- Deliver high-level customer service and promptly address queries.
- Offer post-sales support to customers regarding system monitoring and performance inquiries.
- Respond promptly to all engineering support requests from staff.
- Maintain punctuality in project commencement.
- Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures, including paperwork management, customer files, uniform standards, and security protocols.
- Actively participate in weekly team meetings.
- Undertake any additional tasks as required, leveraging your skill set across different divisions or departments.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate sourcing of materials.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to incorporate into system designs.
- Evaluate and optimize existing solar installations for improved performance and efficiency.
- Assist in the development of proposals and technical presentations for client meetings.
Requirements
The successful applicant will possess:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within the Solar Industry.
- CEC design accreditation for grid connected.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite/Office 365, AutoCAD (essential) and PVSyst.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and structural engineering principles as applied to solar energy systems.
- Familiarity with local permitting processes and building codes related to solar installations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a diverse team environment.
- Dedication to achieving company and team objectives.
- Ability to function effectively in a multi-disciplined, multi-skilled work environment as a collaborative team player.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
