The Principal Program Officer key responsibilities are:
• Prepare policy, procedural, practice and case specific advice in support of departmental responses to requests for information from the Coroner's Court and other oversight bodies.
• Develop, manage and implement projects and programs that support the effective delivery of services relevant to the business unit.
• Provide high level program management advice and direction in relation to human service initiatives.
• Identify information from a wide range of sources and provide strategic analysis and advice on complex operation program, policy and legislative issues relating to the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations to deliver on project outcomes that support the department's capacity to deliver and maintain quality services.
• Provide high level liaison, consultation and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders towards the development and implementation of whole-of-government policy and program initiatives relating to the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
• Ensure that service delivery arrangements support the department's program and strategic intent.
• Provide high level analysis, advice and recommendations of innovative approaches to new trends and issues that impact on service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.
