About the ClientAustralian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH) was established over 30 years ago and has grown to become one of the largest hardwood timber mills and integrated manufacturers in Australia. Located in Heyfield, ASH operates 6 on-site manufacturing lines from two sites including moulding, laminating, finger-jointing, deep splitting, set length docking and mass-timber production. Their range of timber species includes Victorian ash, Tasmanian Oak, American Oak, and Plantation Oak.
About the Role
We are inviting Expressions of Interest from diligent, self-motivated and team orientated individuals to join our client’s team of multi-skilled manufacturing operators. Initially in this role you will undertake heavy, physically demanding, and repetitive manual handling tasks such as lifting, sliding, and carrying timber weighing up to 30 to 45kg. Upon further training, you will also undertake machine operation - from simple to complex machine centres undertaking sophisticated operations and quality monitoring. Applicants with trade or farming backgrounds, mechanical aptitude, and physical fitness will excel in this role.
Essential qualifications, skills and attributes include:
- Machine Operation experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Forklift licence.
- Fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks in line with site work instructions and safe operating procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast -paced production environment.
- A current driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle is essential as public transport is not available.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- A strong commitment to safety and a general understanding of workplace health and safety/OH&S practices
- Ability to tolerate all weather conditions, loud conditions, vibrations, and airborne particles such as sawdust (PPE is provided).
ASH production staff work a 9-day fortnight and the hours of work vary depending on the worksite. Day and Afternoon shift hours are available.
As a condition of employment, applicants need to successfully complete a variety of pre-employment checks, including an interview, skills testing, professional reference checks x 2, Functional Capacity Assessment, Drug and Alcohol testing, and prior work verification.
