With the continued expansion of our services, Western Health is seeking a dedicated Trainee Sonographer to join our team. This exciting opportunity is tailored for internal applicants with a minimum of 6 months of clinical training experience in Ultrasound. This includes those on current ultrasound clinical placements with Western Health.

Position Overview: As a Grade 1 Trainee Sonographer, you will embark on a comprehensive training program aimed at nurturing your skills and expertise to become a qualified sonographer. Under the guidance of experienced sonographers and other healthcare professionals, you will learn to operate ultrasound equipment, conduct examinations, and interpret images to contribute to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. This full-time position spans a duration of approximately 6 months, commencing in June 2024 .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with experienced sonographers and other healthcare professionals to learn and develop necessary skills.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct ultrasound examinations following established protocols.
  • Interpret ultrasound images to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care delivery.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with patients, referrers, and colleagues.
  • Alignment with service delivery expectations of a public health provider.
  • Bachelor of Radiation Science or equivalent recognised Degree, and/or enrolment in a Graduate Diploma of Medical Sonographer through an ASAR approved University.
  • Current Registration with AHPRA and/or Accredited Student Sonographer Registration with ASAR.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, particularly in time management.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of undertaking professional development activities to address learning needs.
  • Ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
