The Department

SBS is the most multilingual public broadcaster in the world. With 60 plus language services, we deliver news, information and entertainment and inspire social cohesion by connecting communities through multilingual conversations, helping everyone feel at home in Australia.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Editor, the Media Researcher, Social Cohesion Unit would see you:

  • Monitoring all media platforms to identify stories/information which may have negative impact on social cohesion and monitor what’s trending
  • Collecting, recording, and analysing information and share it with editorial leads
  • Providing background/context/data/archival content as required
  • Working with language producers to identify potential stories/generate leads

About you

  • Demonstrated experience using and understanding social platforms, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and/or Tik Tok
  • Demonstrated understanding of Australia’s societal composition, political and social structures
  • Demonstrated understanding of content production processes and workflows
  • Tertiary qualification in Journalism or Communication highly desirable

This role is being offered on a fixed term contract for 13 months, with a potential view to extension.
