About the role
The Adult Mental Health Program looking for the right person to support the service in its continuing effort to close the health gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people by supporting the development of a culturally safe and aware environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people requiring assistance for mental health problems.
A key focus of the work will be in supporting the principles and the implementation of the Victorian Government Balit Murrup Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing framework 2017-2027.
This role will support Eastern Health Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) to achieve the aim of strengthening clinical care and pathways to facilitate improved, supported, and culturally appropriate access to recovery-oriented adult mental health services for the Aboriginal communities in the Eastern Metropolitan Region
You will play an integral role in supporting the connection and development of collaborative working relationships of Aboriginal Controlled Organisations/Aboriginal focused Service providers to adult mental health services.
The successful applicants will have experience in clinical service delivery in mental health settings and in the provision of recovery care.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Demonstrated ability to provide a range of services at a high standard, including specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions, to people with a serious mental illness.
- Demonstrated capacity, skills and expertise in working with clients with multiple and complex needs including alcohol and other drug and physical co morbidity.
- Interest or experience in working with Aboriginal people experiencing mental health problems.
- Interest and/or experience in working towards a culturally safe working environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as consumers, carers and employees of Eastern Health Mental Health Services.
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
