As the People and Culture Business Partner at Bis, you will be a trusted strategic advisor and commercial partner. You will influence and coach our leaders through strategic advice, technical expertise and practical solutions.

Working closely with our Senior Leaders within the Underground business you will be our change champion, talent driver and advocate for employee engagement!

Requirements of the role:
  • Support the implementation of operational programs, processes, and initiatives aligned with Bis' People Strategy.
  • Aid the underground division in linking People initiatives to business goals, including support on employee engagement and change management initiatives.
  • Manage onboarding, probationary periods, and succession planning strategies.
  • Support management in using performance tools and implementing improvement plans.
  • Provide coaching and support to improve performance within the underground operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to leaders in employee disciplinary processes to ensure consistency.
  • Assist in coordinating investigations and disciplinary procedures, including drafting documentation.
  • Collaborate with the WCIS team to support work-related injuries.
  • Support employees affected by non-work-related injuries and fitness for work processes.
  • Provide advice on enterprise agreements, awards, and relevant legislation interpretation.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage documentation associated with salary reviews, letters, and contracts.
  • Create reports from HRIS for data analysis, including exit interviews, turnover, and headcount.

To succeed in this role, you must have :
  • Tertiary Qualification in appropriate discipline, preferably a bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar HR role supporting operational teams in heavy industry environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience managing and consulting on a broad range of HR issues including performance management, talent, industrial relations, workforce planning and change management.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary HR practices and strategies including strategic workforce planning, performance management, remuneration and reward, and organisational change and reviews.
  • Proven ability to manage change in a complex and often challenging work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching an executive team and collaborating with others in the pursuit of team and/or company wide goals.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office Suite.

Who is Bis?

Bis own the largest fleet of Underground Hire Equipment in the Coal Mining Industry. We provide casual and long-term hire of run of mine equipment including Load Haul Dump (LHD) Machines, Graders and Personnel Transporters. Bis also provide casual and long-term hire of Longwall Move Equipment including Mules, Heavy Lift Load Haul Dump Machines, Pan Pickers and Dozers, ensuring greater security and flexibility while preserving valuable capital for our clients.

Our Diesel and Electrical Services Division offer complete equipment overhauls, scheduled servicing and machine repairs using the workshop base, and field service crews equipped to operate autonomously at the site of the customer.

Uniquely tasked with growing the business further, Bis are looking to further the footprint in the Underground Industry with a wide selection of equipment purchases in the future.
