Council are seeking an enthusiastic team player to join our team. We are looking for a Plumbing Inspector or Building Surveyor to work within the Building Certification Team undertaking assessment and determination of a wide range of construction certificate, complying development applications, plumbing and drainage related Local Government applications for all classes of buildings.

The Plumbing Inspector is responsible for:

  • Demonstrated competency or familiarity with the Building Code of Australia
  • Applying industry legislation, codes and standards including the Building Code of Australia, National Plumbing and Drainage Code and relevant environmental legislation
  • Understanding the section’s operating environment including the building industry, associated trades and construction techniques
  • Applying professional interpersonal skills including problem solving, teamwork and customer service
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated computer literacy
  • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Monitoring and maintaining a safe workplace

The Building Surveyor or Senior Building Surveyor is responsible for:

  • Assessing and Issuing Construction approvals relative to your level of accreditation with NSW Fair Trading
  • Demonstrated competency or familiarity with the Building Code of Australia
  • Applying industry legislation, codes and standards including the Building Code of Australia, National Plumbing and Drainage Code and relevant environmental legislation
  • Understanding the section’s operating environment including the building industry, associated trades and construction techniques
  • Applying professional interpersonal skills including problem solving, teamwork and customer service
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated computer literacy
  • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Senior Building Surveyors to provide mentoring support to fellow staff members.
  • Monitoring and maintaining a safe workplace

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

  • NSW Drivers Licence
  • Hold a current plumbing and drainage license with NSW Fair Trading with a minimum of 5 years trade experience as a licensed contractor.
  • Be willing to participate in additional training relative to the position of Plumbing Inspector.
  • Currently hold a minimum class of Building Surveyor – Restricted (Class 1 -10) or its equivalence A3 (preferably)
    under the former Building Professionals Board's Accreditation Scheme; or have Building Inspector class (A4) with
    qualifications and recent experience to apply for and achieve registration by Fair Trading NSW at a minimum class
    of Building Surveyor – Restricted (Class 1 -10), OR
  • Be enrolled in a course delivering a qualification recognised in the Building & Certifiers Act & Regulation in order to
    obtain Certifier Registration,
  • Workcover OHS Induction

Salary range: Grade 11-17 - $65,832.00 - $99,278.40 per annum excluding superannuation and leaseback vehicle for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
