WIB Technology are accountable for the provisioning of all technology needs of the global WIB business. Through innovation, thought leadership and technological expertise, WIB Technology is a critical business partner helping WIB achieve their vision of continuing to be Australasia's leading Institutional Bank.

We have an opportunity for a highly driven Technology Service Owner/Engineer to join the team. The business is committed to advancing its' position within the FX and Fixed Income space through investment in technology and recruitment of high-calibre individuals to positively influence outcomes. A key part of that strategy is the development of Data Engineering and analytics capabilities to support regulatory compliance and other necessary tools to support these operations.

Working closely with Business Analysts, our engineers provide leading edge data solutions to monitor, analyse and drive Westpac Financial Markets business objectives, while ensuring Westpac’s obligations from a Risk, Regulatory and Compliance perspective is met.

The successful candidate will participate in a data engineering team combining technical expertise across various big data platforms/technologies and will be expected to work closely with the business and other engineers and contribute to both system design and technical implementation within a Spark environment.

The candidate will also leverage their experience and data acumen to help innovate and refine the technology data roadmap/architecture while also ensure data governance practices are designed to align with data governance enterprise standards.

What do I need?

  • Strong Core Python development skills.
  • Strong understanding and ability to use PySpark/ Spark technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cloud big data implementations/tools
  • Experience with data ingestion frameworks and cloud integration patterns.
  • Experience in defining and /or uplifting enterprise data strategy’s/roadmaps,
  • Demonstrable data management experience working on data governance aspects at an enterprise level.
  • Well versed in Data Structures, complexity theory and CS fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial domain development as a data engineer.
  • Highly motivated, and suitably equipped to work directly with sales/traders/quants.

Desirable

  • Financial Markets domain knowledge/experience around FX or Fixed Income.
  • Master’s or higher degree in a relevant data field a distinct advantage.
  • Experience using the Palantir Foundry platform.
  • Azure Synapse experience.
