About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as our National Transport Optimisation Analyst . Partnering with our Food and Liquor stakeholders and transport partners, you will unlock value for our independent retailers through analysing transport data, optimising transport routes, assisting with strategic planning, performance management of 3PLs and supporting freight tenders.


In this Role

  • Work with a team of passionate supply chain professionals to analyse historical freight data and forecast future outbound freight needs using relevant tools including Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Work with key business stakeholders to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in outbound transportation and supply chain activity and processes through data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain regular reports and dashboards to track key metrics related to outbound freight operations.
  • Support freight tenders with collation of data sets and robust data analysis to ensure effective comparison of costs and service levels and decision support.
  • Assist in evaluating carrier performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, cost per carton/pallet, damages, utilisation, transport efficiency.
  • Support efforts to stay informed about industry regulations, compliance requirements, and transportation laws relevant to outbound freight operations.

You’re Likely a Match If

  • Logistics/supply chain analytical experience within 3PL, FMCG or logistics
  • Ability to articulate commercial proposals and business cases for change
  • Understanding of DC P&L structures and logistics cost of doing business.
  • Business analysis, process mapping and improvement methodology
  • Willingness to develop project and change management capability
