About Us
Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness Limited (SUSF) is a dynamic organisation providing sporting, recreation and fitness services to the University and general community. This involves the management of 40 sporting clubs, several fitness, health and other sport-related facilities, and the coordination of University and community-based sport and recreation programs.
Many Sydney University sporting clubs, teams, and programs are high performing; they are some of the nation’s best and strive to develop University, state, and national representatives. Collectively, we aim to endure and excel as an integral part of the high-performance sport pathway in Australia. Our objective is to be the automatic first choice for talented athletes, especially those who wish to pursue a ‘dual career’ pathway.
To enable this vision, SUSF provides dedicated high performance support and services to select Sydney Uni sporting clubs, teams, programs, and athletes. This includes physical preparation coaching and facilities, alongside club development support and sporting scholarships, coach support, and key services such as performance psychology and sports dietetics.
About the Role
Reporting to the High Performance Manager, the S&C Coach is responsible for providing outstanding, consistent, best-practice strength and conditioning services to facilitate podium performances of high-performing Sydney University sporting clubs, teams, programs, and athletes.
The primary focus of the coach will be athletes of the Sydney University High Performance Clubs and Programs and members of the Elite Athlete Program, and holders of High Performance Passes.
The successfully applicant will start in May 2024 .
About You
On top of the skills and experience outlined below, we are looking for someone with a great attitude and a love of sport and fitness!
- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Exercise Science or similar
- ASCA Level 2 (minimum) strength & conditioning accreditation
- Completed ASADA Level 1 & 2 Anti-Doping Courses
- Industry experience in strength & conditioning
- Proven performance in working within a high performance service team
- Team player, committed to working and behaving in a manner that benefits the team
- You will have a calm demeanour with the ability to remain focused in stressful situations
- Ability to build and maintain rapport with athletes and stakeholders from diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
- Highly developed leadership skills with the ability to engage and relate with players
- Ability to prioritise, multi-task and work to deadlines
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Experience in working within a university-based environment
- Strong understanding of industry best practice
- Current Australian drivers licence
