Description:

Are you a passionate and experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse ready to take on a leadership role in mental health care? Western Health is seeking a dedicated individual to join our dynamic team as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM). In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing leadership, coordination, and support to our nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care to mental health consumers.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Provide shift leadership, coordination, and support to the nursing team, ensuring consumer care needs are met and staffing requirements are managed effectively.

Clinical Expertise: Utilise advanced clinical knowledge and skills to provide appropriate mental health support, treatment, and interventions to consumers. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to formulate and evaluate care plans.

Evidence-Based Practice: Lead and contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices, including safety plans, restrictive intervention reduction planning, and Safewards activities.

Education & Learning: Demonstrate responsibility for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and contribute to the professional development of nursing staff through orientation, supervision, and ongoing learning opportunities.

Key Working Relationships: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, consumers, families, carers, and community service providers.

Selection Criteria:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Postgraduate qualification in mental health nursing or equivalent.
  • At least three years' experience working in a clinical mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with mental health consumers and evidence-based interventions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and practice in accordance with Western Health values.

Desirable:

  • Current driver's license.
  • Ability to speak a community language.
  • Experience and knowledge of women's mental health.
  • Experience in a nursing leadership role or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

  • Compliance with relevant Western Health policies and guidelines.
  • Participation in pre-employment checks, including police/criminal history check, working with children check, and immunization health clearance.
  • Compliance with relevant legislation and codes of conduct.
