About our Facilities
Alan David Lodge - is located on the Surf coast Highway, just a short drive from both the Geelong CBD and coastal surroundings. This 108-bed facility service offers both residential care and transition care beds. Lead by exceptional senior staff who prioritise holistic patient care and the continued education and development of their staff. Alan David lodge consists of 74 residential high level care beds and 34 transitional care beds
Wallace Lodge - Located only minutes away from the centre of Geelong at Barwon Health’s McKellar Centre is a recently upgraded facility. It is a vibrant community asset with parkland surrounds. We offer focused professional development with dedicated nursing educators on site, working within new state-of-the-art facilities. Our residents require assistance with their daily living, chronic medical conditions and social engagement within the community
Blakiston Lodge - Located at Barwon Health’s McKellar Centre in North Geelong, Blakiston Lodge is a 90-bed, high level, residential aged care mental health facility which consists of two secure units of 45 aged mental health beds (Oak) and 45 dementia specific beds (Adzen). Residents are referred who cannot be looked after in the general aged care system due to their level of cognitive, emotional or behavioural disturbance. The goal is to improve the resident's condition so that they can be transferred to a less restrictive and more appropriate accommodation.
COMING SOON IN 2024! A new specialist Dementia support program will be launched as a part of this facility later this year. This additional service will support those with severe behavioural and psychological dementia symptoms and aim to provide specialist care targeted at rehabilitating patients into mainstream aged care facilities. Do you have a passion for aged care nursing and are dedicated to resident focused care? Barwon Health are seeking Enrolled Nurses to work in our aged care facilities - if you are a Medication Endorsed Enrolled Nurse we encourage you to apply today!
As the Enrolled Nurse you will be responsible for the provision of patient, client and resident focused holistic nursing care to those assigned to you, under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to;
- Delivering consumer centred care that meets best practice standards and in line with Barwon Health policies
- Providing quality patient care using an evidence based approach
- Demonstrating respect for individual’s values, customs and spiritual beliefs to ensure patient care is effective and culturally appropriate
