We currently have an ongoing Support worker opportunity at our Elouera Women's residential service based in Orange.


About the Service


Elouera Women's residential service is a voluntary rehabilitation service for Women based in Orange, NSW. Elouera provides a safe environment for women ages 18+ to reduce their dependence on drugs and alcohol, priority is given to women with children, pregnant women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander women from rural and regional NSW. Children up to 12 years old can stay with their mother.

Your opportunity


This is a full-time role, working 38 hours per week. In this role, you will provide daily support and coordinate activities for our residents during the day, afternoon and evening (sleepover) shifts, including weekends and holiday periods.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Resident supervision and support including supervision of the self-administration of prescribed medications by residents.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and provide culturally appropriate practice.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations and communicate with on-call staff as necessary.
  • Participate in house meetings and community activities. Complete handover documentation and participate in handover at the beginning and end of each shift.


The hourly rate ranges between $36.00 to $38.60 per hour based on skills, knowledge and experience + shift penalty rates for night shifts + superannuation.

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated ability to engage easily with a diverse and complex client group.
  • Demonstrated ability to mediate, resolve conflict and deal with behavioural issues in a respectful and non-punitive manner.
  • An understanding of evidence-based practice in an alcohol and other drug setting.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Have the ability to set and maintain good boundaries - with clients, colleagues, and yourself. What we do isn’t always easy, so taking care of yourself is most important!
  • You’ll be comfortable working to a structure but have the capacity to be flexible and navigate the unexpected.
  • You’ll be able to think on your feet, problem solve and handle pressure.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant human services discipline with additional AOD qualifications highly regarded. Previous experience in a residential setting highly regarded.
