Description:

The Financial Strategy and Advice Unit within the Department of Education are seeking applications for a full-time temporary Senior Finance Officer to join their team until 31 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.

School Financial Resourcing collaborates with key business partners to administer approximately $9B of financial resourcing provided to state schools annually, $5B payments to non-state schools and undertake salary related costing activities, via the School Based Salaries and Appropriations and Allowances teams.

About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Finance Officer to:

  • Assist with development and implementation of the department's School Based Salaries budget and associated costing methodologies, based on interpretation and understanding of workforce management and industrial relations policies impacting on the department's workforce.
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve the services, information and tools provided by School Financial Resourcing.
  • Analyse and report on business unit financial and budgetary performance including input into the department's monthly business report.

Within this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Assume a leading role in the development and management of the school-based salaries and school purchase recoveries corporate and internal budgets, and the development of complex labour related costings.
  • Assume a leading role in labour related data management and the provision of analysis and advice in relation to business and financial risk for school-based salaries.
