Department

Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. This partnership is aligned with the Victorian Government's Pathology system reform. The Pathology programs are working in partnership to ensure we meet the future demand and continue to provide high quality pathology services for the patients and community across the health services. In the Partnership, pathology services are provided from two main laboratories (The Alfred in Prahran and Monash Medical Centre in Clayton), and six branch laboratories (Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Sandringham Hospital, Wonthaggi Hospital and Victorian Heart Hospital). In addition, there are 20 collection centres and rooms spread across South East Melbourne and South Gippsland, with the furthest one located in Yarram.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will provide support and guidance to the Project Director for the Western Health Pathology Transition and Project Team through:

  • Developing and implementing the Western Health Pathology Transition plan.
  • Contributing to project planning and communications activities.
  • Reporting to and advising relevant project governance committees.
  • Overseeing project administration (project documentation, schedule, progress reporting, steering committee secretariat functions).

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant pathology or health discipline.
  • Project Management and/or Change qualification is desirable.
  • A track record of successful leadership within a complex professional and multidisciplinary services environment.
  • An established understanding of health services and service delivery objectives.
  • A record of achievement in delivering services in accordance with the stated performance objectives of a complex organisation involved in health care.
  • Capacity to work with stakeholders including patients, staff and the community to ensure the continued delivery of safe and high quality services.
  • Demonstrated ability to share knowledge and improve the knowledge base of the team and laboratory.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, network across health services and maintain positive working relationships.
