Your new role
What you'll need to succeed
- Corporate and Financial Management Administration Support
- Provide executive administrative assistance, project support and coordination of the administrative functions associated with the Finance & Governance Directorate.
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer, including diary management, monitoring of emails and managing requests to assist with prioritisation of work and activities.
- Research and draft report papers and correspondence and manage the overall records management processes for the related documentation, ensuring alignment with the Council’s information and records management framework.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer to maintain oversight of Directorate actions, activities and reporting requirements. Maintain a calendar of key outputs, monitoring progress and deadlines.
- Deliver effective oral and written communication consistent with Council values and established timelines. This includes, but is not limited to, telephone and email enquiries and the preparation of general correspondence and records that support Council outcomes.
- Liaise with responsible officers, internal and external stakeholders in the coordination of meetings and make arrangements for effective meetings including preparation of documentation and presentation materials, setting up of equipment, and catering, if required.
- Current National Criminal History Check.
- May be required to undergo a pre-employment medical examination and drug screen to determine fitness to perform nominated duties.
- Proven experience in an administrative support and secretarial role at an executive level dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write and speak appropriately for an audience. High-level of attention to detail and the ability to research, draft and prepare reports, submissions and general correspondence.
- Well-developed organisational skills, including time management and prioritisation skills, to effectively complete allocated tasks within time-frames by working autonomously or as part of the team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and confidently with a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders. Possess the ability to act with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and contribute to finding practical solutions and opportunities for improvement.
- Proficient computer literacy skills utilising proprietary software and programs.
- An awareness of the structure of financial reporting and a sound understanding of the presentation requirements of financial statements and performance reports.
- Qualifications in business administration or similar. (Desirable)
- Local Government experience in a similar role. (Desirable)
- An understanding of local government's role in governance and financial management. (Desirable)
