About the role

We are seeking an experienced Scientist - Research Support Services who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:

  • Performing biobanking and research testing preparations
  • Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for clinical trials, including post-testing procedures.
  • Perform data handling, entry, and manipulation into research databases and spreadsheets
  • Assisting with Stock Control
  • Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
  • Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
  • Maintaining current scientific knowledge
  • Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
  • Participating in training staff
  • Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
  • Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures, and Quality Assurance Processes.

About you

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within the respective discipline
  • Sound knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
  • Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision
  • An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
  • A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
