Provide the highest possible standard of specialist palliative care medical services, consultancy and advice to clients and families. Facilitate the development and delivery of best practice specialist palliative care medical services in Tasmania. Provision of teaching in palliative care for undergraduate and post graduate students, general practitioners and primary and specialist health professionals. Promote and participate in palliative care research to improve evidence-based practice. Work collaboratively with primary health service providers and specialist health service providers across the range of settings for effective continuity of care. Actively pursue improved outcomes for clients in need of palliative care by participating in postgraduate teaching, clinical audits and evaluation.The Role:
Based in the community in Launceston, you will be joining a friendly and motivated multidisciplinary team including a small core team of specialists who, along with two registrars and working in conjunction with Palliative trained GPs, Nursing and Allied Health staff, provide service to a broad catchment area across Northern Tasmania. The role promises a variety of work, incorporating community, inpatient and acute client groups. The service is accredited for Diploma of Palliative Medicine and for Advanced Trainees in Palliative Medicine. See what we are all about.

We are a forward thinking team, with current projects including commencement of in-reach services to participating aged care facilities across Tasmania with a Clinical Nurse Consultant led model of care with support from a trainee medical Registrar and Palliative Care Medical Specialist. These services are being provided as part of the national Comprehensive Palliative Care in Aged Care measure, a joint state and Australian Government-funded initiative aimed towards improving palliative and end-of-life care capacity and capability in aged care facilities.
