Who Are We Looking For?
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Registrar – Obstetrics and Gynaecology, to work for the Department of Health (DoH) in the North West region.
The maternity unit, housing the birthing suite and all inpatient maternity patients for the region, is located at North West Private Hospital (NWPH) in Burnie, with antenatal and postnatal services offered at both the NWRH and MCH. There are approximately 1000 births annually and staffing includes experienced midwives. High risk births are managed in conjunction with the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) supported by the local endocrinology and diabetic teams. The unit is supported by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8 bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit.
The outreach services are located at picturesque regional centres which include the West Coast District Hospital, Smithton District Hospital and King Island District Hospital and Health Centre.

The right applicants will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels.
The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. As such, you will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, full time day work (part time hours may be considered), 76 hours per fortnight, plus an additional 10 hours protected training time (pro rata), commencement by mutual agreement for a period of 12 months. Please note opportunity for 48-month appointments may arise from this selection process and will be negotiated on an individual basis.

Salary: $131,000 - $183,500 per annum. Our 11% Employer superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible

- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration
