Since launching ExoSphere in March 2022, Fleet has signed contracts with over 30 clients including Rio Tinto, Barrick Gold and Core Lithium and completed over 300 Ambient Noise Tomography surveys, more than any other company in the world.

The Team
The Software Team at Fleet Space Technologies is composed of team-oriented technical experts that are driving significant innovations and shaping solutions for internal and external customers. Our tech stack includes embedded RTOS and Linux (C and Go), scientific data processing (Python), Customer APIs (Go and Typescript) and Frontends (Typescript with React and Vue). With such a broad stack we don't expect everyone to know everything, but ensure we have experts we can trust in each area, who are capable of communicating across complex software boundaries. It's not rocket science, but it's close! The Role
Fleet Space Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer to guide the delivery of quality software throughout the entire cloud based software stack. This challenging and inspiring role is ideal for candidates who have proven experience on delivering software features in a team environment within an agile, high-growth, cutting edge technology organization.
Reporting to the Lead Software Engineer (Cloud), the Full-Stack Software Engineer will collaborate across the team to deliver software design & development of the back-end and front-end of Fleet's “ExoSphere” web application. They should expect to be pulled into a plethora of yet to be defined challenges that will drive revenue for the company, inspire/challenge them technically, and help change the world (while taking Fleet intergalactic)!
They will partner closely with multiple teams including:
- Embedded Team - to receive processed data from our satellite network to make it available to customers in a reliable, easy to consume manner.
- Product - to collaboratively work on requirements and make sure we're building the right thing for our customers

Location
We are open to this role being based at HQ in Adelaide, South Australia; or remotely in Australia, Canada or the USA - based on prior experience and ability to team & thrive remotely.

Main Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Software design & development of Fleet's AWS-based systems for data processing
- Design & development of Fleet's ExoSphere web app
- Development of software interfaces between services
- Participation in Systems Engineering activities including requirements capture, verification and validation planning and execution
- Deploying and operating of production systems
- Mentorship and guidance of junior software engineers
- Providing constructive feedback during code review
- Work in an agile framework
- Continuously enhance and optimize the process to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in full stack software development
Key Skills and Required Experience
- Bachelor's (Tertiary) Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in software development in a cloud environment
- Experience with a strong background in at least one of: Go, Python, or TypeScript
- Full working rights in Australia, Canada or the USA.
- Familiar with CI/CD tools such as Gitlab runners/Github actions
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
- Experience delivering scalable distributed systems
- A testing mindset, with experience writing and executing tests
- Knowledge of Terraform, devops
- Working knowledge of web applications, including front-end
- Experience with protocol buffers (protobuf)
- Experience with serverless architectures (lambda, SQS, SNS etc)
- Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
