We are currently seeking a caring Occupational Therapist to come join the Aged Care Assessment team in Cairns.
Our client:Our client provides essential Australian government services in the Aged Care sector, facilitating the identification of necessary support services to enable older Australians to maintain independence at home. Additionally, they have been chosen as a provider for the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) service, striving to ensure equitable access to the most suitable level of support for individuals in Aged Care.
Their diverse team of allied health professionals includes nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, alongside dedicated support personnel in customer service and administration roles.
About the Role:
We are currently seeking a caring Occupational Therapist to come join the Aged Care Assessment team in Cairns.
This position entails conducting thorough and independent assessments of residents in designated Residential Aged Care facilities to determine classification and funding.
These assessments rely on data analysis, reviewing existing documentation, and engaging in conversations with residents and care providers. The primary aim is to gather information for accurate classifications that determine funding levels, with a special emphasis on enhancing restorative care for older Australians. This involves identifying key cost drivers related to various aspects such as Palliative Care, Mobility, Function, Frailty, Cognition, Communication, Behavior, Mental Health, Wound Care, and Technical Nursing.
As part of a collaborative team of assessors, the role prioritizes delivering high performance while maintaining a client-centered approach.
This role is ideally part-time at 0.6, however full time will be considered for the right candidate.

- Full AHPRA registration
- 5 years of aged care experience
- A passion for high-quality service delivery
- Previous Aged Care experience is desirable
- Strong communication and report writing skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organisational skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Current driver's licence and car (required)
- Eligible to work permanently in Australia
