Key responsibilities of this role:

  • Develop strategic partnerships across government, industry and broader stakeholders to ensure that project development and implementation is inclusive of the economic and community participation needs and aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders;
  • Lead projects to deliver the department's strategic initiatives;
  • Develop, coordinate and implement projects for improved community and economic participation outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders;
  • Provide quality and timely advice and analysis to the Manager on economic and community participation issues;
  • Contribute to the evaluation of whole-of-government policies and programs, including assessing the effectiveness of whole of government policies and programs on economic participation outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples;
  • Contribute to the region's operational planning processes;
  • Prepare complex and substantial reports, submissions, briefs, memoranda and correspondence in relation to economic and community participation projects and initiatives; and
  • Other priorities as requested by Manager.

Employee Housing will be considered with this position. Possession of a valid Queensland drivers licence. All applicants must nominate an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to their ability to meet the cultural capability criteria. This person may be a community member, supervisor or work colleague. An applicants confirmation as a First Nations Australian does not exempt them from providing a cultural reference. For some roles, it is a condition of employment to comply with the departments COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements policy. Where this policy requirement applies, employees must provide evidence of their vaccination status including having the prescribed number of doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine prior to the commencement of their employment.
