About the role: Our successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical procedures by meticulously preparing, sterilising, and storing reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment. This crucial responsibility aims to prevent the transmission of infections, safeguarding both patients and healthcare professionals.

Working within a large team, Sterilisation Technicians operate under routine supervision, adhering to strict protocols and standards to maintain the integrity and sterility of instruments. Their duties encompass not only the sterilisation process itself but also the thermal disinfection of equipment, ensuring thorough cleanliness and adherence to regulatory requirements. With attention to detail and a commitment to quality, Sterilisation Technicians play a vital role in upholding the standards of healthcare delivery and promoting patient safety.

Where you'll be working:
  • Cessnock District Hospital is a 64-bed facility that provides emergency, surgical and general medical care to the area’s growing population. They have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and proactive Sterilisation Technician to join their team, within the Theatre Department setting.
  • Cessnock is located only a short distance away from the Hunter Valley vineyards and is the administrative centre of the City of Cessnock Local Government Area. It is a vibrant town, surrounded by countryside and full of affordable dinning and accommodation and home to the Cessnock District Hospital.
  • This is an opportunity to work for the largest local health district in NSW which services a population of more than 900,000 across the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast areas.


About you: Our ideal candidate will prosses the following attributes -
  • You have Sterilisation Technician and Endoscopy reprocessing experience (desirable, not mandatory)
  • You are hardworking and enthusiastic induvial who can persevere in challenging situation
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills for facilitating positive, effective working relationships and possess the ability to adapt to different areas

Requirements and Additional information:
  • Sterilisation Technology Certificate II or III in health service assistance (sterilisation services) or equivalent qualification and relevant experience in sterilisation services department within a healthcare facility
