POSITION: DISABILITY SUPPORT ASSISTANT
ABOUT THE ROLE
For the advertised role - we are requiring female disability support staff. The successful candidate will work on a set roster, supporting an elderly male client with a disability for social support and community participation and transport to shops for coffee or outings.
- Our Clients are based in Marsden Park near Schofields and in Bellavista area.
- Staff must have experience working with clients with dementia, schizophrenia, depression and other mental health issues.
- The successful support staff must be available for 3-5 hour shifts per day for 2-3 days a week.
- Be a cheerful and energetic personality who would love to do activities with a person with a disability.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accompanying, Motivating and Transporting clients to shops, social and community participation activities.
- Personal care including showering and personal hygiene.
- Cooking, preparing meals at the Client's Home, Travel training, and Money skills.
- Household and domestic duties e.g. cleaning, tidying.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience working in disability or aged care services is preferred.
- Experience in providing quality personal care.
- Have worked and/or have experience providing support to people with disabilities and behaviours of concern.
- Assisting with domestic and cleaning tasks at the client’s home.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Ability to support clients with challenging behaviours.
- Reliable, committed, friendly, caring, and a positive attitude to deliver quality client support
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must follow all PPE Procedures while supporting clients with disabilities.
- Ability to prioritize and problem-solve situations promptly that may arise while providing services.
- Work in accordance with the care and support-related Information provided (which includes Behaviour Support plans, Rosters, Care Notes, and Communication Book).
- Have an understanding of Microsoft Word and email as a mode of communication.
- Documentation and notes taking to report the progress of service delivered.
- A willingness to participate in ongoing training and learning as required.
- Understand and fully comply with and support the rules of NDIS, and Code of Conduct while at work.
REQUIREMENTS - CHECKS/ CERTIFICATES
- Cert III or Cert IV in Individual Support, Home & Community Care, Aged Care, Disability Care or higher
- Current First aid and CPR qualification or willingness to obtain within three months
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- COVID-19 Induction Module CLEARANCE
- NDIS Clearance Check
- Current and Valid Working with Children’s Check
- Current unrestricted and full driver's license
- Own a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
