This role is being offered on a 5:2:4:3 roster.

You will support the Maintenance and Engineering teams with the provision of advice and support to personnel for the resolution of equipment performance, maintenance issues and statutory and safety electrical compliance.

You will proactively engage with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Technical Services and other engineering disciplines. The role will also require contact with external parties including supply authorities and statutory bodies. As the Electric Engineer, you will be an expert in all electrical aspects of mineral processing and mining plant including High Voltage (HV) transmission and distribution equipment, and control and instrumentation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Providing technical support to maintenance personnel.
  • Development and revision of site electrical technical standards.
  • Ensuring statutory compliance for all electrical installations, equipment, and works across site.
  • Ensuring the safe operability and maintainability of electrical aspects of the processing operations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely investigation and reporting of equipment failures and unsafe events.
  • Continuous improvement of electrical plant efficiency, reliability and costs.
  • Review the systems, procedures and practices for the maintenance of electrical equipment across the operation to ensure site standards and statutory requirements are met.
  • Develop and maintain engineering records and documentation including site technical standards, drawings and specifications.
  • Provide technical input and participate in developing condition and performance monitoring systems for critical equipment.
  • Establish safe work procedures and training packages for personnel in major electrical works such as HV switching, isolation and testing.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve plant reliability and reduce maintenance expenditure.
  • Lead and participate in root cause investigations into equipment failures, participate and contribute to safe work practices and environmental awareness.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to health and safety, environmental and social responsibility practices.
  • Assist in the electrical aspects of plant improvement including preparation of capital project requests and review of capital projects design proposals.

About You

  • Electrical Engineering Degree with significant post graduate experience in Mining/Heavy Industry, preferably within large scale, complex processing facilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and standards.
  • Significant electrical experience including HV transmission and distribution, industrial control and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience writing repair specifications and ensuring appropriate QA/QC is applied by vendors.
  • A detailed understanding and passion for engineering and asset management principles and demonstrated experience in implementing long term asset management plans and strategies
