ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a person with hands-on construction site experience, who is interested in developing a career in health and safety. We will provide support, guidance, and training to build your confidence and skills. In this site-based role, you will directly with our Project Managers and Site Supervisors on site, and ultimately report back to our WHS Manager, to contribute to the safe and successful completion of SBP Australia’s projects.
The role is a full-time, site-based, permanent position and will be required to work Monday to Friday (with weekend works when required).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertaking manual labour duties as required by the project team, including general site housekeeping, unloading & moving materials, assisting various trades, maintaining public protection hoarding and site barricading
- Conducting site inductions
- Onboarding and inspecting mobile plant arriving onsite
- Reviewing safe work method statements and verifying compliance by employees and subcontractors
- Creating daily content and helping to deliver training for site teams including morning pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, Safety Alerts, Safety Bulletins
- Completing regular site walks / Health and Safety Inspections
- Establish and maintain site safety registers, reports, documents and records
- Providing support and advice to project teams
- Support the WHS Manager as required with tasks such as:
- Meeting client, and subcontractor safety requirements
- Incident reporting and investigation
- Analysis of project data to produce relevant reports that inform decision-making
- Manage any workplace incidents and assist in investigations
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate must:
- Have experience in commercial and/or industrial construction environments
- Be able to communicate clearly, take & follow directions and be proactive in the workplace.
- Be able to set up processes and procedures and develop relevant project reports (training will be provided).
- Be able to complete manual tasks – the role will at times involve manual lifting, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
- Have a professional attitude with the desire to learn and progress your career in the construction industry.
- Have basic to intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel
- Have a General Construction Induction Training (White Card)
- Be self-motivated and disciplined
- Be able to work well independently and within a small team
- Be able to travel between different construction sites around Brisbane and at times, wider Queensland and interstate.
The following qualifications and experience will be considered favourably, but are not mandatory:
- Workplace Health and Safety Certificate IV
- Trade qualification
- Construction industry relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Engineering, Construction Management, Building Surveying)
- High Risk Work licenses
- Procore experience
The role will include training for the successful candidate, following a trial period, and may include:
- First aid and CPR Certificate
- Workplace Health and Safety Certificate IV
- High Risk Work licenses
