Why Sunrise?
We are seeking a part time Room Leader (shared role) to be part of our team based in North Fitzroy. Sunrise is a not-for-profit organisation with over 29 years of success leading the early childhood education in Melbourne, we run daily a unique Integrated Kindergarten and Long Day Care Program.
We have built a strong community that values Neo-Humanism, the right of a child’s play, meditation and yoga. All this, play a very important part of the education that makes us unique and well regarded in the community. Stepping outside our front gates is a big part of our day as we explore our local community and beyond. We have been exploring North Fitzroy since 2009 and we can proudly say ‘We know our neighbourhood’
As a Room leader, you will be supported in a conducive environment, that fosters a strong sense of belonging and community engagement that embraces change and making a difference in the children’s life.
Our intimate calm setting is one classroom with max. 22 children a day with an indoor and outdoor learning environment.

An ECEC Diploma qualification(preferred) or equivalent, Co-Educator as approved by ACECQA or working towards.
- The play-based approach for children on a day-to-day basis, together with the Early Childhood Teacher to be able to lead the room and work along side co-educator
- 12 months' experience working in an early childhood.
- Attend regular staff meetings - paid
- Practical working knowledge and application of the NQF, EYLF, and VEYLDF.
- Demonstrated ability to implement programs that are inclusive and responsive to the interests, strengths and learning needs of individual children for outdoors and indoor play.
- Proven ability to engage in critical reflection on your performance and practice.
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team.
- Who is committed.
- Can-do attitude.
- With good communication skills, warm and welcoming capable to build relationships with the children and the families of our community.
- Part of our philosophy is nurturing each child’s socially and emotionally, we do this through the practice of Yoga and meditation daily.
- Is enthusiastic about working closely with a team of educators, families, key workers and specialists.
- Promote and role model sustainability, inclusive in our outdoor/indoor area.
- Have the ability to work in Australia
- Accountable to the Committee of Management for all employment matters.

We value time with family and friends, so we close our Centre for 4 weeks at the end of the year. You also have the opportunity to take time off throughout the year. Staff meetings and out of hours commitments are paid alongside with a yummy home cooked vegetarian dinner.
