About the Role


Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your role will involve maintenance of village and facilities sites including general cabinetry, door maintenance, and roof repairs amongst other tasks. In addition, you will contribute to development and long-term maintenance and reliability strategies with input into technical documentation relating to village maintenance, while utilising BHP’s processes and standards.

This is a permanent opportunity based at Mining Area C offering a dayshift FIFO roster 7 days on/ 7 days off.

As a candidate who enjoys working in an environment of high safety and operational standards you will:

  • Conduct carpentry work as part of our Village Maintenance Team
  • Conduct general repairs and maintenance across our Packsaddle and Mulla Mulla Villages supporting Mining Area C
  • General maintenance activities - inspections, painting/ plastering/ door lock installs/ change-outs/ repairs, roof repairs, cabinetry/ shelving/ wall mounted items and installation
  • Be comfortable in the use of computerised system of SAP, excel, word and outlook
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in implementing new initiatives in a constructive way
  • Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence without being supervised.
  • Undertake training on regular basis and provide support and coaching to work mates within the area of competence
  • Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable crews to work safely

About You

If you have worked a maintenance role and have an interest in building your career in the mining industry, this role could be for you. We are seeking:

  • Carpenter Trade Certificate (Essential)
  • 1SAP / FIORI Maintenance Program (Ideal)
  • EWP, Working at Heights, Excavator/ Operator experience, Forklift, Backhoe, Skid Steer (Desirable)
  • Experience managing the day-to-day completion of scheduled maintenance work
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Exposure to FIFO or shift work
  • Have exceptional risk management skills
  • Strong presentation, communication and coaching skills and the ability to work closely in a team environment
  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up
  • Focused on working collaboratively within your team to achieve results
  • HR/HC Driver licence advantageous
