Provide advice and mentorship to support projects that will increase First Nations student, and staff, participation at Charles Darwin University (CDU)

About the Position

As the First Nations Health and Culture Advisor, you will help grow the proportion of First Nations students studying health-related courses at CDU, grow the First Nations health academic and professional staff and increase the quality of our collaborative partnerships with First Nations’ organizations.

You will support this commitment by providing advice and mentorship, building relationships, and supporting projects that will increase First Nations student participation, support employment of First Nations staff in the Faculty of Health and improve First Nations engagement and cultural knowledge within the faculty.

About You

To be successful, you will require :

  • A good knowledge of First Nations (Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander) cultural and connection with Indigenous communities both professionally and personally.
  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience in project management in a high regulated industry and / or complex organisation or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education / training.
  • A strong track record in delivering against a schedule of deadlines, with strong organisational skills, project management skills and self-motivation with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proven ability to exercise initiative and maintain confidentiality, and with demonstrated communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to engage with students, academic and university staff, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated high level professional verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate in a culturally sensitive manner with internal and external stakeholders to whom English may not be the first language.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable and contribute to diverse teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to work in a challenging environment with problem-solving skills to achieve specific outcomes, and to work with initiative, discretion, and judgement.
  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to engage with students, academics, and stakeholders across all levels of the University and key partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of processes and practices.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Professional level 7. The base salary will be in the range of $91,642 to $100,594 per annum.

The total remuneration package will be in the range of $107,221 to $117,694 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
