About the role:

We are seeking a journalist to join our Ten Local News Updates team based in Tasmania. Our journalists are self-starters who have an eye for detail and a keen interest in local news and current affairs. You will be responsible for researching and pitching engaging stories daily, then delivering quality pictures-driven video news content for our TV and online platforms. As a talented journalist, you will bring a unique perspective to every story you tell while maintaining an objectivity which is crucial to the journalist ethics of honesty, fairness and independence.

Experience we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience in television news content creation and presentation
  • As a strong storyteller, you have the skills to simplify information and convey news in an easily understood way with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work without supervision to meet strict deadlines
  • Proven ability to generate social media content that leads to greater engagement with online audiences
  • Knowledge of video editing software is an advantage, as is a knowledge of social media tools and platforms and photo and video editing apps
  • Sound knowledge of media law and best practice
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media or related fields is desirable
