As a OO5 Ranger, you will report directly to and support the Ranger in Charge to plan and deliver the day-to-day work program in accordance with the business plan.You will lead and guide a small team, inspire enthusiasm, and ensure their safety and wellbeing.Working collaboratively with other Rangers, First Nations partners, volunteers and external contractors, you will deliver annual fire, pest, natural resource, visitor and asset management programs and undertake plant and infrastructure maintenance tasks in protected areas. You must be willing and able to work well in a small and dynamic team.You need to be willing and able to live in, travel to, work and camp overnight in remote and isolated locations in varying climatic conditions. A reasonable degree of physical fitness is required.
OO5 Ranger (Eungella) This position assists the Ranger in Charge to develop and implement the annual works program within the Pioneer Work Unit, predominantly at Eungella National Park and Crediton State Forest. Experience in staff supervision, leadership, workplace health and safety, natural resource management, infrastructure development and maintenance, visitor management and compliance are keyrequirements of the role.OO5 Ranger (Byfield) This role's focus area is to provide supervision and assist implementation of the delivery of natural resource and recreation management tasks for the Byfield base.This can include plant and infrastructure maintenance, pest and fire management and cultural heritage protection.
To join our team as a OO5 Ranger, you must have the following skills:- supervisory experience- an ability to work with others to plan and deliver annual work programs and projects in protected areas- administrative skills - for compiling reports, maintaining records and using computer systems and applications- experience managing human resources and budget processes- highly developed communication skills - to respond to client queries, provide advice and to carry out park patrols- confidence undertaking compliance and enforcement activities- ability to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including park neighbours and authority holders- experience operating and maintaining plant and equipment (or the ability to rapidly acquire)- a willingness to support and promote the interests of First Nations people
